Chad Bault is a Pacific Northwest singer-songwriter whose music moves between indie-folk, Americana, and alt-country. For more than two decades, he has performed throughout the region and toured the West Coast, building a live show that can move from a near-whisper to something full-bodied and powerful without losing its center.

That center is Bault’s voice—both the instrument and the point of view behind the songs. His writing approaches subjects from inside the emotion rather than at a distance. In performance, he tries to make that emotion present enough for listeners to find their own way into the song.

Bault has followed the demands of each song rather than settling into one fixed sound. The arrangements shift from intimate and restrained to loud and unruly, while his voice keeps the work recognizably his own.

His 2024 single “Wilder Times,” recorded live with a full band at Seattle’s Crackle & Pop! Studio and produced by Johnny Sangster, looks at the tenderness, nostalgia, and selective memory shared between two people.

His forthcoming single, “Wherever You Go,” arriving October 2, 2026, turns toward uncertainty and self-acceptance—and the inconvenient discovery that a change in scenery does not necessarily leave the rest of us behind.
